We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Emotional Support Teaching Assistant at an inclusive and vibrant school in Sutton Scottney. This role is perfect for an experienced professional who is ready to make a positive impact by providing emotional support to students, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.
This is a part-time position (2 days a week: Thursday and Friday) with the potential for additional days or full-time hours for the right candidate. We are looking for someone who can bring their skills and experience to support students with their emotional and educational development.
About the Role: As an Emotional Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students aged 11-16, supporting those with a range of SEN. You will provide tailored emotional and academic support to help students stay engaged and build confidence in their learning. You will collaborate with the school’s Inclusion and Learning Support teams, offering 1:1 and small group interventions that support students in overcoming challenges and reaching their full potential.
Key Responsibilities: *Provide emotional and academic support to students aged 11-16, particularly those needing extra help with emotional engagement in their learning.
*Deliver 1:1 support and small group interventions to help build students’ confidence, resilience, and engagement.
*Assist students in maintaining emotional stability during lessons, helping them manage challenges or distractions.
*Work closely with teachers to ensure students can participate fully in class and make academic progress.
*Build strong, positive relationships with students, providing a supportive and encouraging environment.
*Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff to meet the specific needs of each student.
*Contribute to the school’s approach to emotional and educational support, ensuring the well-being of all students.
The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for an experienced and compassionate individual who is committed to helping students succeed emotionally and academically. You will have prior experience working in educational support roles, particularly in environments where you have worked with SEN students or those needing emotional support.
You should be:
*Empathetic, with a genuine desire to help students overcome emotional challenges and engage with their learning.
*Experienced, with a background in supporting students in a classroom or similar educational setting.
*Proactive and adaptable, able to meet the changing needs of students and support them effectively.
*Calm and patient, with the ability to provide a reassuring, engaging atmosphere for students.
*Skilled in building relationships with students and colleagues, fostering trust and respect.
*Available to work part-time, Thursday and Friday, with potential for additional hours for the right candidate.
