Job Description:

About the Role As Head of the English Department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the English curriculum and fostering a love of literature and language across the school. You will lead a talented and motivated team of educators, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and driving academic success for students at all key stages. This full-time position is set to commence in January 2025.
Key Responsibilities *Leadership and Management: Oversee the strategic direction, development, and day-to-day management of the English department. Inspire and motivate your team to deliver engaging, high-quality lessons.
*Curriculum Development: Design and implement an innovative and challenging English curriculum that caters to a diverse range of learners, promoting excellent progress and attainment.
*Teaching Excellence: Deliver outstanding lessons and model best practices in teaching and learning, ensuring your department consistently meets and exceeds performance targets.
*Staff Development: Lead and manage the professional development of department staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
*Student Progress: Monitor and evaluate student outcomes, using data-driven strategies to close achievement gaps and celebrate success.
*Collaboration: Work closely with senior leaders and other departments to contribute to the school’s overall development plan and ethos.
About You To be considered for this role, you should have:
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a proven track record of success in teaching English at secondary level.
*Strong leadership experience or evidence of impact in a middle leadership role.
*A deep passion for English and a commitment to inspiring young people.
*Exceptional communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
*The ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
