Job Overview
To provide expertise and support to management by managing and collating governance information and assessing performance against corporate frameworks to ensure that services meet a range of robust information governance standards.
Key Responsibilities *Assess current service compliance against well-defined information governance standards, performing regular checks and audit activities to enable compliance in GDPR, Freedom of Information Act and other relevant codes of practice.
*Co-ordinate the process for requests for information within the service by circulating them to the appropriate officers and collating responses, ensuring that the information supplied to the requester is returned within the relevant legislative timescale and is compliant.
*Maintain records and registers in accordance with defined information management criteria to ensure services remain compliant with information governance frameworks. This will include maintaining an Information Asset Register, and supporting the development and implementation of a records management process.
*Undertake investigations into internal data protection breaches to provide reports, documentation, and recommendations for promoting best practice to management so that lessons can be learned, and future breaches minimised.
*Manage the process of privacy notices, fair processing statements and consent, and conduct privacy impact assessments ensuring senior managers receive guidance regarding privacy requirements
*NVQ Level 4 or HND in Data Protection, Law, and information Governance, or equivalent.
*Practical working knowledge of relevant data protection acts and codes of practice.
*Knowledge of corporate information governance framework, standards, policies, and processes.
*Knowledge of various ICT software packages.
*Experience of preparing guidance and information, and contributing to the development of processes to meet defined information governance standards.
*Ability to provide information to others and communicate information and outcomes in a clear manner.
*Ability to plan and manage own workload
*Experience of managing confidential and sensitive personal data and producing and presenting clear summary information and reports.
Personal Qualities & Attributes
*Prepares and checks work thoroughly to ensure high quality and follows up with others to ensure agreements or commitments are fulfilled.
*Identifies and seeks out the information needed to clarify a situation and probes to get at the facts.
*Uses own initiative to identify what needs to be done to meet legislative or organisational requirements.
*Demonstrates forward thinking by anticipating the implications and consequences of situations and taking appropriate action to prepare possible contingencies.
*Ensures that information is passed on to others who should be kept informed.
