Job Description:
Eden Brown synergy are currently recruiting a Locum Community Speech and Language Therapist on behalf of Shropshire Community NHS.
This is a full time, locum role to start as soon as possible where you will be working with people with an acquired or progressive neurological condition, in community-based settings and in their homes.
The base is Shropshire Rehab Centre in Shrewsbury with face to face visits across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
This is a Band 6 position where you will be required to work 37.5 hrs per week Monday - Friday.
The main duties and responsibilities are:
* To plan, organise and prioritise own client case load. This will involve specialised skills to develop individual Speech and Language Therapy intervention plans for a range of neurological conditions, some of which will be highly complex.
* To work as a member of the multidisciplinary CNRT alongside Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Assistant Practitioners including attendance at weekly multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborative working in joint clinics and home visits.
* To undertake all aspects of the Speech and Language Therapy process.
* To be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of speech and language therapy treatment and care, enabling the client to maximise their potential to gain optimum independence.
* To develop and maintain skills required to practice Speech and Language Therapy within an adult neurology setting.
* To attend relevant goal planning/review meetings with clients and other staff.
* To undertake Speech and Language Therapy assessment and treatment as an autonomous practitioner.
* To assess and develop individual care/treatment plans for a range of neurological conditions, clients with physical, cognitive, social and psychological needs. This may be delivered via 1:1 sessions or by running suitable group treatment sessions e.g. communication groups.
* To be responsible for reassessing client care as treatment progresses and modifying treatment programmes as appropriate.
* To be able to analyse clinical and social information from a range of sources and integrate into Speech and Language Therapy assessment and development of care/treatment plan.
To apply for this role, you must have:
A degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
HCPC registration and RCSLT membership.
Experience of carrying out specialist assessment and intervention within area of acquired neurological communication and swallowing disorders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
