Job Description:
The Sanctions Advisor will join the global Financial Crime Team, a specialist unit in the Compliance function within the Office of General Counsel. The Sanctions Advisor will report to the Sanctions Director and have global advisory responsibilities, working with business, Legal and Compliance colleagues around the world. This is a remote role with an element of hybrid working based at the London office.

The Role
*Providing advice to the business regarding the application of sanctions and export control laws and regulations across WTW services and a variety of WTW Client transactions
*Managing a transaction caseload within a work flow tool, including the handling of transactions within agreed SLAs 
*Identifying and escalating high risk &/or complex transactions to the Sanctions Director &/or other members of the Sanctions Team, engaging external counsel where necessary 
*Supporting the Sanctions Director with procedural aspects of complying with sanctions and export control laws and regulations, including completion of external regulatory reporting (where required)
*Maintaining a detailed working knowledge of all sanctions and export controls rules, regulations and legislation, reporting any significant developments to the Sanctions Director and relevant business stakeholders
*Supporting the Sanctions Director to develop and enhance Sanctions Team referral processes (primary responsibility)
*Supporting the Sanctions Director with sanctions related projects and ad hoc activities where required (primary responsibility)
*Supporting the Sanctions Director to respond to significant sanctions developments, including operationalising new Sanctions Team &/or business processes 
*Supporting the Sanctions Director to develop and enhance the Sanctions & Export Control Policy and Procedures and online training where necessary
*Supporting in development of tailored training material to high-risk business colleagues where necessary
*Supporting the Sanctions Director to draft global and targeted communications to the business about regarding sanctions and export control developments, involving the analysis of, and preparation of summaries in connection to, the applicable laws and regulations


The Requirements
*Organised approach to work 
*Ability to work to deadlines and to adapt to changing priorities
*Ability to analyse, interpret and apply sanctions law and regulations (predominantly EU, UK UN and OFAC) to WTW services and a variety of WTW Client transactions
*Accuracy and attention to detail
*Strong communication skills both written and verbal
*Problem solver
*Team player with good interpersonal skills
*A Law degree (desirable)
*Experience in the financial or legal services industry is an advantage, but not a requirement
