Job Description:
Social, Emotional and Mental Health Disorder Teaching Assistant- Leeds
We are currently working with multiple schools in the Leeds area who specialise in providing education to students aged between 5-16 years old who have Social, Emotional and Mental health disorders.
Here at Veritas, we are searching for multiple Teaching Assistants who are happy to work with SEMH learners, across both primary and secondary age groups. You must demonstrate a talent for dealing with challenging behaviour, show a level of resilience whilst at work, and can build meaningful relationships with both young learners and staff.
Throughout this role you will need to be able to demonstrate effective behaviour management techniques, build rapport and trust with young SEN learners to de-escalate incidents and promote learner growth, and create a safe educational environment.
As a SEMHD Teaching Assistant, you are responsible to work alongside teachers, managers and other classroom staff in order to support the learners and young adults in a constructive and controlled learning environment, both inside the classroom and around the setting.
The cluster of schools searching for TA staff have some of the best educational provisions in the area for supporting SEMHD students, you will be joining a highly qualified, effective and committed team to help support learners of varying ages and needs throughout their school day.
The Role:
*Creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment for the learners and young adults involved.
*Working within a supportive staff grouping where everyone follows the same standards and ethos.
*Gaining first-hand experience within the SEN/BESD sector.
Requirements:
*A DBS on the update service (We can advise on this).
*Experience working with BESD/SEN students with challenging behaviour.
*Team Teach Certificate (Within the last 2 years).
Ideal Candidate:
*A varied knowledge of the national curriculum and basic classroom learning strategies.
*The ability to apply sensible and suitable behaviour management strategies when dealing with challenging/high-risk behaviour.
*The ability to build trust-worthy relationships, both with learners/ young adults and staff within a team.
*Happy to work with either Primary or Secondary aged children.
