Job Description:
Our engineering focused manufacturing client is growing and to support increased production levels they need to employ a Material Scheduler / Buyer. The main function of the role is to plan and manage the flow of component material to ensure material is always available to meet production demand and ensuring inventory levels are managed to agreed targets. You won’t have to negotiate price or terms when buying, but will place functional orders to ensure parts are available in the right location at the right times.

Material Scheduler - Role and Responsibilities - Material Planner, Supply Chain Coordinator, Buying, MRP, ERP, Production Planning

- To compile and maintain the weekly manufacturing schedule taking into account customer demand, lead time, lot size, plant capacity and the company stocking policy
- Liaise with Production, Sales, and company management on any issues relating to customer deliveries and material supply. Produce and distribute accurate supplier schedules in a timely manner
- Track inbound shipping and ensure timely clearance through customs, by providing the relevant documentation. Expedite all in-bound materials and liaise with suppliers regarding any supply issues to ensure continuity of material supply into production
- Work to agreed inventory targets. Implement changes and initiatives to lower the inventory levels without interruption to production. Develop and maintain Kanban supply systems for C class items
- Conduct cycle counts, analyse stock accuracy and complete root cause analysis for stock discrepancies. Support in the development of systems to manage the accuracy of material movements throughout the operation
- Actively promote and participate in Continuous Improvement activities and New Product Introduction projects

Material Scheduler - Skills and Abilities - Material Planner, Supply Chain Coordinator, Buying, MRP, ERP, Production Planning

- Have a good level of education and are highly numerate (essential)
- Have excellent experience of ERP/MRP systems in a similar role (essential)
- Confident on IT packages including Excel, Word and able to operate on key business systems
- Have excellent organisational skills, particularly time management and planning
- Able to work effectively under pressure
