Responsibilities
Global Asset Allocation (GAA) strategy team, part of Societe Generale’s Global Research unit, is a cross-asset powerhouse. With 200 analysts, strategists, and economists, we specialize in multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, FX, and commodities. Our global perspective stems from extensive networks in Eastern Europe, the US, Asia, and established UK/Western Europe presence. The GAA team, based in Paris, London, Bangalore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Casablanca, combines expertise in cross-asset research. Our focus includes the impact of major events on asset classes, assessing links between them, and evaluating carbon footprints of investments. We publish highly visible reports, intensively marketing them to the bank’s institutional client base. The team has been ranked #1 in Cross Asset Research (Economics and Strategy category) in the Institutional Investor / Thomson Extel Surveys almost every year since 2008.
This newly created V.I.E. role is tailored for an entrepreneurial IT developer with a passion for financial markets. You will contribute to ambitious programming projects and support the GAA team and our "Invest without Carbon" initiative, a pioneering low-carbon investment effort. As a junior member, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with seasoned strategists, tackling daily tasks with a high degree of independence. He/She will benefit from a steep learning curve across a wide range of assets and sectors.
*Collaborate with senior team members to improve (increase scalability, flexibility, and update speed) their quant models while transitioning them from Excel/VBA to Python
*Lead the development of a common IT infrastructure, automating data retrieval, cleaning, and storage under the guidance of a colleague who developed a similar project in another team
*Develop a data visualization tool and chart book, enabling swift data exploration and chart integration in publications to Accelerate the research process and enhance visual storytelling capabilities
*Assist in setting up a new publication focusing on interrelations between commodities and other asset classes, generating actionable trade ideas
*Contribute to the production of the quarterly Multi Asset Portfolio (MAP), the team’s flagship publication, exploring major global markets drivers
*Collaborate on the production of the weekly Conviction Thinking (CT), highlighting specific topics with actionable trade ideas
*Adhere to all compliance rules and risk management policies, ensuring the integrity and reliability of the research process
Due to the VIE eligibility criteria a questionnaire will be provided. Please make sure to answer all the questions for an efficient analysis of your application.

Studies & experience:
*Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Computer science/Programming
*A previous experience in Data science/Research/Asset management would be appreciated
Language skills:
*Fluent in English (B2-C1)
Technical, operational & Soft skills:
*Excellent programming skills in Python and proficiency in VBA
*Proven experience in contributing to complex automation, data handling, and data visualization programming projects
*Proficient in maintaining and utilizing APIs
*Experience working with data retrieval, cleaning, and storage processes
*Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex quant or programming concepts to a non-technical audience.
*Strong interest in global markets and diverse asset classes, with an understanding of financial concepts
*Experience in building financial quantitative models, particularly in a cross-asset context is appreciated
*Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with a focus on data manipulation and presentation
*Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to challenge the status quo to improve processes and models
*Proactive, autonomous, and entrepreneurial mindset is critical to success in this role
*Very strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in London is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months. The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space.
