Job Description:
Progressive are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Installation Design Project Engineer to join our client on a large cross-country cable installation project. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design and engineering of the project, ensuring it is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required specifications, while mitigating risks. This is a hybrid working role, offering flexibility with occasional site visits and office attendance for important meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
*Lead the design and engineering efforts for the large cross-country cable installation project.
*Develop detailed design plans, specifications, and drawings for the project, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
*Collaborate closely with site engineers to ensure seamless integration of design and installation processes.
*Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to design specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
*Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to the project team.
*Identify and mitigate risks associated with the design and installation phases of the project.
*Perform site visits to inspect installations, verify design compliance, and address any on-site design issues.
*Prepare and present detailed design reports and project status updates to stakeholders and management.
*Coordinate with various departments, external partners, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
*Proven experience in a similar field, with a strong emphasis on design engineering for large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in cable installation.
*Solid background in civil or mechanical engineering with a focus on design engineering.
*Experience working with National Grid or similar large utility organisations is highly desirable.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with site engineers, stakeholders, and the project team.
*Strong problem-solving and analytic skills to identify and address design and engineering challenges.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
*Flexibility to travel for site visits and attend important meetings as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
*Professional engineering accreditation or certification.
*Advanced degree in civil or mechanical engineering, project management, or a related field.
*Extensive experience in managing design engineering aspects of large-scale infrastructure projects.
