Robert Half are partnering with Horstman Group, a manufacturing business supplying to the defence sector based in Bath, to recruit a Group Head of Finance.
This is the perfect opportunity for an ambitious Group FC or similar looking for a step up and ability to broaden their skills within a commercially focused role, as well as longer-term potential to progress to Finance Director.
The Company
Recognised by armoured vehicle designers worldwide as the benchmark for excellence in the field since the 1920’s, Horstman today works with more than 18 blue chip prime contractors and government research centres. With export sales to 28 countries, they provide unrivalled mobility to vehicles ranging from ultra lightweight-wheeled 4×4, battlefield 6×6 and 8×8 wheeled, through infantry and engineer tracked vehicles and up to the heaviest of main battle tanks.
Horstman has experienced rapid growth in the last few since being bought by RENK Group, taking their total employees from 70 to 200 in the UK (total 300 wordwide) and t/o across the UK, Canada and US businesses to c.£60mil.
The Role
As the Group Head of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in steering financial strategy and optimising operational performance.

You will lead a talented team of finance professionals, driving financial planning, analysis, and reporting initiatives to support strategic decision-making across the organisation. Your insights will be instrumental in guiding the growth trajectory and ensuring financial sustainability within a dynamic industry.

Key Duties:
*Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, providing insightful analysis and recommendations to senior management
*Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in all financial activities
*Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and controls, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and cost optimization
*Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as operations, sales, and engineering to align financial objectives with business operations
*Supporting on commercial bids and proposals, as well as business cases
Your Profile
*Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, ICAEW etc)
*Able to communicate at all levels and present to Board/Exec level
*Experience working within an ever-changing environment and working to tight deadlines
*Ideally experienced in corporate reporting
*Ambitious and keen in attitude
