Job Description:
We have a new project coming up with Birmingham City Council’s Thriving Children and Families Division under the Attendance and Inclusion Service.
They are looking for an Improving Attendance Manager to carry out a project for a minimum of 3 months and are Grade 5 (up to £29.31 per hour). The role will involve the following:
*To manage, co-ordinate and quality, assure the support to schools as prescribed under ’Working together to improve school attendance’, ensuring all children can access the full-time education to which they are entitled, with a strong focus on inclusion for vulnerable children including preventing exclusions.
*To ensure the delivery of effective partnership, working with all key internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining a strong collaborative approach to the local authority support for school attendance
*To provide supervision and line management responsibilities in relation to staff as allocated
*To support the improvement of school attendance within the city and promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people
*To lead and develop a team to ensure efficient, effective, and responsive professional support and challenge in relation to children with persistent and severe absence from school.
*To be responsible for the allocation of Managing Attendance Coordinators within a defined locality area and to ensure annual or termly ’Targeted Support Meetings’ are held in schools and other education providers based on the schools data
*To ensure all statutory duties are met and that any interventions are informed by best practice and agreed procedures

Essential experience requirements for the role: Degree level or equivalent, a minimum of three years’ experience working in social care or development and experience of providing:
*Staff supervision
*Statistical reporting and manipulating/ collating/ analysing/ presenting data for performance management purposes on software such as Microsoft Excel
*Working with vulnerable children and families l
*Multidisciplinary and multi-agency work
*Experience of devising and delivering training and presentations to a wide variety of audiences, including schools and other local authority staff
