Job Description:
Job Purpose: Charles Stanley is looking to recruit a Portfolio Manager in our Birmingham office. The role involves providing portfolio management services to investment managers (IMs) and clients, and provides an opportunity to join a well-established team, contributing to the ongoing development and success of the branch, as well as develop your career achieving key professional qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
*Assist IMs with managing portfolios for a diverse range of clients, including individuals, families, trusts, corporates, and charities
*Construct, implement, and maintain investment models, ensuring client portfolios are aligned and managed effectively
*Conduct regular reviews of client portfolios to ensure the ongoing suitability of investments
*Ensure prompt and efficient client communications
*Execute trades in stocks, shares, collectives, and structured products as instructed
*Create investment schemes for new clients and produce investment proposals
*Monitor and address portfolio outliers
*Develop investment strategies in coordination with other portfolio managers
*Provide rationales for transactions and trades on client accounts
*Stay updated on market developments and provide key information to IMs
*Offer regular commentary on economic, market, company, and fund updates
*Maintain due diligence documentation for non-preferred investment solutions
*Assist with quarterly client reporting
*Ensure clients’ ISA and Capital Gains Tax allowances are utilized
*Support administrative tasks as needed
*Represent Charles Stanley at events, presentations, and meetings
*Develop professional connections and new business opportunities with IMs and business development specialists
*Promote a compliance culture and adhere to all regulatory requirements
About You
*RDR compliant with a minimum CISI Level 4 qualification, or equivalent
*Experience in portfolio management for private clients, including investment research, balanced portfolio management, asset allocation, and alternative investment strategies
*Familiarity with investment processes and techniques
*General financial planning awareness and high market awareness
*Understanding of FCA Conduct of Business Rules and Money Laundering Regulations
*Methodical and organised approach to work
*Highly resilient with strong interpersonal and communication skills
*Business-focused approach with strong attention to details
*Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
*Proficiency in MS Office and financial data systems
