Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our team on a full time, permanent basis. We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable professional to oversee all aspects of health, safety, and compliance within our MOD Housing Division in Aldershot. Due to Antac being awarded a new area, we will be hiring a new team to support the region, implement processes and deliver work to a high standard at all times.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring H&S policies, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and fostering a strong safety culture within the organisation.
This position involves frequent travel across various sites in the Hampshire / Surrey area; therefore, a company vehicle will be provided.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will be reliable and enthusiastic, with a keen eye for detail to identify hazards, discover opportunities for improving conditions, and implement safety programs. Your role will be to ensure compliance with Health & Safety laws, Environmental Laws, and best practices across the Aldershot area. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to convey safety guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce.
About Us
The MoD Housing Division (part of Antac Support Services) is committed to delivering high-quality maintenance and estate services for MoD Housing across the Aldershot Service Delivery Area (SDA). We take pride in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient housing solutions for military personnel and their families.
Key Responsibilities
*Implement and maintain existing Health & Safety policies, procedures, and best practices in compliance with MOD, Client, and UK legislation.
*Provide expert H&S advice and training to staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
*Conduct audits and inspections across the housing maintenance operations.
*Work closely with operational teams to promote a positive health and safety culture.
*Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, compiling Learning Accounts.
*Deliver inductions, training sessions, and presentations on H&S matters.
*Oversee the inspection of equipment and machinery to identify hazards.
*Recommend and implement solutions for risk reduction and safety improvements.
*Collate and report Health & Safety statistics, trends, and issues monthly.
*Advise Operation/Project Managers in preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
*Deputise for the Lead Health & Safety Manager.
Requirements
Essential:
*3-5 years’ experience as a Health & Safety Manager.
*NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum requirement).
*Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.
*Ability to coach and influence staff to adopt safer working practices.
*Experience in accident investigations and root cause analysis.
*Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
*Experience in construction, military, facilities management, or public sector environments.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
*Strong organisational and motivational skills.
*Exceptional interpersonal abilities.
*Must hold a valid UK driving licence.
*Must be able to obtain security clearance.
*Experience in delivering training courses.
Desirable:
*Experience working within MOD contracts or housing estates.
*First Aid at Work certification.
*NEBOSH Fire Certificate.
*NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
*NEBOSH Environmental Certificate.
