A welcoming primary school in central Preston is seeking a patient and proactive 1:1 Support Teaching Assistant to work with a highly autistic pupil in Year 5. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the life of a child and contribute to a supportive and inclusive school community.
About the Role:
*You will provide 1:1 support to a pupil with autism, working closely with the class teacher and other professionals.
*You will implement individualised support plans designed to meet the pupil’s specific needs, focusing on both learning and social integration.
*You will utilize your knowledge of positive strategies and techniques for supporting autistic pupils to create a positive and engaging learning environment both within and outside the classroom.
*You will foster a strong and trusting relationship with the pupil, promoting their emotional well-being and academic success.
*You will demonstrate patience, calmness, and firmness in setting expectations.
*You will be a strong communicator, collaborating closely with the class teacher, other staff, and parents to ensure the pupil’s needs are being met.

*Experience of working with children with autism
