Time Study & Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager
Location: Doncaster area
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 6.45am – 3.30pm | Friday, 6.45am – 2.05pm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience + benefits
The Role as a Time Study / Continuous Improvement Manager: We are seeking an experienced Time Study & Continuous Improvement Manager to join a well-established UK manufacturing business. This is a pivotal role, combining detailed time and motion study work with the leadership of lean and continuous improvement initiatives across production operations.
Working closely with both the Design and Production teams, you will be responsible for establishing accurate labour standards, ensuring effective costings for new products, and driving efficiencies that support both operational performance and business growth.
Responsibilities - Time Study / Continuous Improvement Manager: * Conduct detailed time and motion studies, particularly during new product introduction phases.
* Gather and analyse data to calculate labour rates across departments, applying both time study techniques and specification-based calculations.
* Develop and maintain accurate labour standards, updating the ERP system accordingly.
* Support costing estimates for new products to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
* Collaborate with Design and Production to ensure labour standards are embedded into planning and workflow processes.
* Analyse workflows to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and staffing level requirements.
* Contribute to fair and consistent wage structures across departments.
Continuous Improvement (Approx. 25% Focus)
* Lead and support lean manufacturing initiatives (e.g. 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
* Facilitate CI workshops and provide training to production teams.
* Monitor and report on the impact of CI initiatives using relevant performance metrics.
* Drive employee engagement and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
What we are looking for: * Proven experience in time and motion studies or industrial engineering.
* Strong mathematical ability and analytical mindset.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of ERP systems essential.
* Solid understanding of Lean/CI tools and methodologies.
* Effective communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment (upholstery or fast-paced production advantageous).
* Some knowledge of CAD would be beneficial, though not essential.
* Relevant qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Operations Management is desirable.
