Town Planner
Location: Nottingham
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well established, independent planning consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their expanding Nottingham team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious planning professional to be part of a dynamic consultancy that delivers high quality planning advice across a range of sectors, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. The successful Town Planner will gain exposure to a wide variety of projects, work alongside experienced professionals, and have excellent opportunities for career progression.

The Role
As a Town Planner, you’ll assist in delivering planning consultancy services to a wide client base. You’ll be involved in all aspects of planning, including appraisals, applications, appeals, and local plan representations. Working as part of a close knit and growing team, you’ll contribute to delivering successful outcomes for both private and public sector clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and supporting documents
* Undertake site appraisals and planning research
* Prepare planning statements and design and access statements
* Liaise with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholders
* Provide general planning advice under the guidance of senior colleagues
* Contribute to business development and client relationship management
* Support senior staff with larger and more complex projects
About You
We’re looking for a motivated and commercially aware Town Planner with a passion for delivering quality planning solutions. You’ll be confident, organised, and eager to grow within a consultancy environment that values collaboration and personal development.
Requirements:
* Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or related discipline
* MRTPI-qualified or working towards Chartership
* 1-3 years of planning experience, ideally within consultancy or local authority
* Strong understanding of the UK planning system
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage time effectively and work to deadlines
* A proactive, team oriented attitude with attention to detail
