Job Description:
Catering Assistant
*Location: Wakefield Council
*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (2 months)
*Pay Rate: £12.85 per hour (PAYE)
Wakefield Council are looking for a proactive and dedicated Catering Assistant to join our Events and Functions team. This role is essential in providing high-quality catering services, ensuring excellent food and great service to a large number of people.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Serve customers in a polite and friendly manner, ensuring a positive customer experience.
*Assist with basic food preparation and ensure all areas including kitchen, service, and seating are kept clean, tidy, and safe.
*Use a till system and coffee machine, and provide support in the kitchen as needed.
*Participate actively in the team working approach for the allocation of duties within Events and Functions.
*Ensure that services are delivered to the highest standard, in line with client and customer requirements and the Council’s Customer Care and Equal Opportunities policies.
*Meet the public and representatives of other services as necessary, providing appropriate information on request.
*Contribute to the maintenance of good employee relations within the team.
*Adhere to food hygiene and health and safety regulations at all times.
*Engage in upselling and suggestive selling to maximise sales.
*Using a Till system, serving customers, helping out with the kitchen, and using the coffee machine
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in catering or customer service is preferred.
*Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and safety standards.
*Flexibility to work on a rolling 4-week rota, including 3 weekends per month.
*Willingness to undergo training and participate actively in departmental meetings.
*Valid Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate
Working Hours:
*Shifts from 8:30am to 16:30pm
*Note: The role includes working over Christmas, with flexibility available.
