Grounds Maintenance Worker

*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (1 - 2 months)
*Pay Rate: £12.85 per hour (PAYE)
Rochdale Council are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our their team on a temporary basis. This role involves maintaining the council’s green spaces, ensuring they are well-kept and safe for public use.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Carry out general gardening and grounds maintenance tasks across various locations within the borough.
*Operate a variety of equipment for grass cutting, including pedestrian, hand-held, and ride-on machines.
*Perform strimming, hedge trimming, shrub maintenance, and edging.
*Engage in weed removal and general street cleansing.
*Litter picking and emptying of litter bins as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks.
*Reliable and eager to learn all aspects of horticulture.
*Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
*Flexibility to work in different parts of the borough and to work overtime on an ad-hoc basis as needed.
*Desirable: Qualification in Horticulture (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
*Desirable: Pesticides Application Certificate PA1 & PA6.
Health and Safety:
*Willingness to adhere to the council’s Health and Safety Policy.
*Candidates may be required to produce any relevant certificates or qualifications at the interview.
