Investigatory Officer
*Location: Greater Manchester Police
*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (3 months)
*Pay Rate: £20.86 per hour (PAYE)
Greater Manchester Police are looking for a Investigatory Officer Join the Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW), a collaborative effort across five forces, as an Investigatory Officer. This role is crucial in our mission to keep people safe from terrorism by investigating crimes related to national, regional, and force counter-terrorism and extremism control strategies.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Conduct both reactive and proactive investigations under the guidance of a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) or the CTPNW command.
*Attend crime scenes, make initial enquiries, carry out fast track actions to establish facts, and preserve evidence.
*Interview witnesses and suspects concerning terrorist investigations and take statements.
*Maximise opportunities to gather intelligence from various sources.
*Search premises related to terrorism or other offences within the CTPNW’s remit.
*Act as a team leader in major incident investigations.
*Conduct research and retrieve data from CTPNW IT systems, including HOLMES 2 and other databases.
*Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and standards, including CPIA, RIPA, DPA, HRA, and the Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS).
*Work collaboratively with other parts of the CTPNW, other forces, and external agencies to maximise intelligence opportunities and counter threats from extremism and terrorism.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Former Detective or equivalent experience in a similar role.
*Proven experience in conducting complex criminal investigations.
*Familiarity with national security vetting clearance and willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) if required.
*Strong understanding of the legal frameworks and compliance requirements related to counter-terrorism.
*Excellent investigative and analytical skills.
*Ability to handle sensitive intelligence material responsibly.
*Ideally an Ex-Police officer would be the most suitable candidate for the position
*Working Hours will be Monday to Friday, Working either a 7.00am - 15.00pm, 8.00am - 16.00pm, or 9.00am - 17.00pm
