Expert Caseworker - Criminal Violence
Location: Pan-London (face-to-face delivery); Agile working for all other duties
Contract: Ongoing temporary (initial 2 months contract with possible extension)
Hours: 32 hours per week, worked flexibly from Monday to Thursday
Salary: £22.59 per hour
Reed is recruiting an Expert Caseworker in Criminal Violence for a charity that works with young Londoners affected by violence. You will be committed to providing trauma-informed, person-centred support. This position offers the opportunity to develop trusted relationships and provide comprehensive support through the criminal justice processes, advocating for the rights and protection of victims and survivors.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Build and maintain trusting relationships with young Londoners, providing prolonged support as they navigate the criminal justice system.
*Deliver effective interventions tailored to the needs of individuals affected by criminal violence, ensuring alignment with our service models.
*Collaborate effectively with partner agencies, maintaining an awareness of criminal justice processes and inter-agency work.
*Ensure high-quality case recording in accordance with best practice principles.
*Educate and support young Londoners in understanding the criminal justice process, including those who may have displayed perpetrating behaviours.
*Make appropriate referrals and signpost to support services and positive activities.
*Work with partners, communities, and stakeholders to deliver effective services, ensuring all victims receive appropriate care and support towards recovery.
*Contribute to internal and external reporting, occasionally leading presentations and learning events.
*Develop project resources and materials in collaboration with colleagues.
*Adhere to all safeguarding legislation and guidance, as well as organisational policies and procedures.
*Manage a caseload of 12 young people, ensuring tailored and consistent support throughout their journey.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in casework, particularly within criminal justice or related fields.
*Strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people involved in or affected by criminal violence.
*Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of individuals and organisations.
*Excellent communication and advocacy skills, capable of effectively supporting and representing young people.
*Knowledge of safeguarding practices and legislation relevant to working with young people.
*Ability to work flexibly and responsively in a fast-paced environment.
