Counsel (E&O Litigation) – Maternity Cover

Contract: Fixed-term (Maternity Cover)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Solicitor (3–5 years PQE) to join a leading financial services organisation as Counsel (E&O Litigation) on a maternity cover contract.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advising on and managing errors & omissions (E&O) and other contentious matters across the Group. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, external counsel, and professional indemnity insurers, helping to shape and deliver effective litigation strategies and risk management processes.
Key Responsibilities*Advise on and manage contentious matters, primarily professional indemnity and E&O claims.
*Oversee the implementation of litigation and E&O processes, standards, and reporting.
*Provide training and guidance to business stakeholders on litigation risk and E&O management.
*Support the development of junior legal team members on E&O-related work.
*Liaise with Finance to ensure appropriate litigation reserves and provisions.
*Maintain strong working relationships with external law firms and professional indemnity insurers.
*Provide senior management with regular updates on ongoing litigation and emerging risk trends.
Skills & Experience*Strong knowledge of insurance law and the wider insurance market.
*Experience handling professional negligence or E&O claims, ideally within or for an insurance intermediary.
*Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
*Proven ability to balance legal and commercial considerations in strategic decision-making.
Qualifications*Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales)
*Approximately 3–5 years PQE (flexible for the right candidate)
