Learning Support Assistant (SEN – Secondary)

Reed Education is seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work within a secondary school setting, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and behavioural difficulties. This role is ideal for individuals committed to inclusive education and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Autism, SEMH, and behavioural needs.
*Act as a mentor, building positive relationships and promoting emotional regulation and resilience.
*Support teachers and SENCOs in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
*Assist in creating and delivering differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs.
*Use positive behaviour strategies to manage challenging situations and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
*Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to staff and parents/carers.
*Engage in ongoing training and development to strengthen SEN and behaviour management skills.
Essential Skills & Experience
*Previous experience supporting secondary-aged students with SEN, particularly Autism and SEMH.
*Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and emotional support strategies.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*A calm, patient, and proactive approach to mentoring and support.
*Relevant qualifications in education or SEN are desirable.
