Principal Highways Engineer (Hybrid)
*Location: Hybrid (3 days from home, 2 days in the office)
*Salary: £40 - £60 per hour (Umbrella rate) dependent on experience.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Principal Highways Engineer to join our Highways Development Management (HDM) team. This role involves assessing the access potential of sites for inclusion in the forthcoming Local Plan, making it ideal for candidates with experience in highway development and local plan processes.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Assess and evaluate sites put forward for development, focusing on highway network access and compliance with local plans.
*Provide expert feedback on planning applications, ensuring they meet all necessary highway and transport planning criteria.
*Work closely with local authorities and other stakeholders to gather and analyse highways information.
*Manage and lead teams in the delivery of highway, transportation, and seasonal related projects, ranging from minor works to large-scale multi-agency transportation schemes.
*Attend progress meetings and consultations with the public and local councillors, effectively communicating technical information and project statuses.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in Highways Engineering and Transport Planning, ideally within Development Management or as a Transport & Highways Consultant/Planner.
*Minimum of HNC/Degree in Transport Planning, Highways Engineering, or a related discipline.
*Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status or Membership of a relevant Institution is beneficial.
*Strong technical knowledge of highway-related schemes, safety, legislative, regulatory, and legal requirements.
*Proficient in industry-related software and good computer skills.
*Excellent project management skills and experience in technical report writing.
*Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
