Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be supporting a highly respected, market-leading engineering business based in Barnsley as they look to appoint an experienced Purchasing Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and driven procurement professional to join a thriving organisation at a key time in its growth journey. The successful candidate will take ownership of the purchasing strategy, supplier relationships, and cost optimisation activities across a diverse range of engineering and industrial materials.
The Role: As Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for leading all procurement activities across the site, ensuring materials and services are delivered on time, to quality, and within budget. Working closely with engineering, production, and finance teams, you’ll drive strategic sourcing initiatives, continuous improvement, and supplier performance.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and executing the site purchasing strategy in alignment with business goals

* Managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts to deliver best value

* Leading cost reduction and value engineering initiatives

* Identifying and implementing supply chain improvements

* Monitoring supplier performance and ensuring compliance with quality and delivery standards

* Supporting new product introduction projects from a procurement perspective

* Managing and mentoring a small procurement team

About You: We are keen to speak with individuals who can demonstrate:
* Proven experience in a Purchasing or Procurement Manager role within an engineering or industrial manufacturing environment

* Strong technical understanding of engineered components, materials, and supply chains

* Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills

* Commercial acumen with the ability to balance cost, quality, and risk

* Experience of implementing purchasing systems, processes, and performance metrics

* CIPS qualification (desirable but not essential)
