Job Description:
Street Cleanser
*Salary: £13.69 per hour
*Location: Barnsley
*Job Type: Full-time, Temp
*Hours: Mon-Thurs 6:30-2:30, Fri 6:30-2:00
We are seeking a dedicated Street Cleanser to join our multi-disciplinary team. This role is crucial in delivering council services and responding to community priorities throughout the area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining clean streets and pathways, litter picking, de-weeding, and ensuring the overall cleanliness of the area.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Undertake general operational duties and specialist duties as requested by management in all weather conditions.
*Drive vehicles with or without trailers, operate ride-ons, and use various machines and equipment, performing daily checks and reporting any faults.
*Responsible for the maintenance, minor repairs, and security of machinery, equipment, and vehicles.
*Lock and unlock council buildings and other premises as part of contracted works, ensuring sites are secure.
*Monitor stock levels of fuel stores in remote depots and liaise with relevant teams to maintain adequate stock levels.
*Provide excellent customer service, handle information exchanges politely and positively, and respond to service requests or report issues as necessary.
*Work under the guidance of a line manager, using personal initiative to deliver services to a professional standard and within agreed procedures.
*Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Customer Care, Dignity at Work, and other relevant legislation and policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*GCSE x 2 or equivalent.
*Training in Manual Handling, Needle Stick, and IOSH Working Safely.
*Valid UK driving licence to ’Category B or B+E’ or ’Category C1 or C1+E’ standard.
*Experience in a grounds maintenance environment and carrying out respective duties.
*Knowledge of Health and Safety as it applies to daily duties.
*Ability to operate relevant tools and equipment required by the role.
*Effective customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
*Ability to interpret and act on verbal, written, and electronically transmitted instructions.
