Job Description:
We are seeking a patient, skilled, and engaging Specialist Tutor to support a Year 11 student with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and dyscalculia. The role involves delivering tailored Maths and English tuition for 2 hours per week over a 6-week period.
About the Student The young person is bright and capable but experiences challenges with:
* Maintaining engagement during learning
* Behavioural regulation
* Processing mathematical concepts due to dyscalculia
We are looking for someone who can bring creativity, calmness, and adaptability to each session, helping her build confidence and skills in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities * Plan and deliver accessible, personalised Maths and English lessons
* Use strategies appropriate for learners with ASD and dyscalculia
* Support engagement through positive behaviour approaches
* Provide brief progress updates after sessions
* Build a trusting, consistent rapport with the student
Essential Criteria * Experience working with young people with ASD and/or additional learning needs
* Strong subject knowledge in Maths and English at KS4 level
* Ability to use differentiated, trauma-informed, or neurodiversity-affirming teaching approaches
* Excellent communication skills and a calm, supportive manner
