My client is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and inspiring Paraplanning Team Leader to take the helm of their expanding Paraplanning function. This is a pivotal leadership role within a forward-thinking financial advisory business, offering the opportunity to shape a high-performing team and play a key part in delivering exceptional client outcomes.
About the Role
The successful candidate will lead, develop, and motivate a team of up to eight talented Paraplanners, working closely with the Head of Advice to elevate the firm’s advice standards and ensure a seamless, robust support service for Financial Advisers and clients.
With a blend of strategic oversight, workflow management, quality assurance, and hands-on technical expertise, this role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to make a genuine impact.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
*Lead, mentor, and coach a team of up to eight Paraplanners, cultivating a positive, high-performance culture.
*Carry out regular one-to-ones, performance reviews, and training needs assessments.
*Manage workflow and task allocation, ensuring SLAs and deadlines are consistently met.
*Oversee induction and ongoing development of new team members.
*Act as the key liaison between the internal paraplanning team and the outsourced provider, creating efficient, end-to-end processes that support Advisers effectively.
Service Delivery & Quality Assurance
*Partner with the Head of Advice to define and refine paraplanning standards, systems, and service delivery models.
*Conduct detailed file checks and suitability report reviews to uphold exceptional technical accuracy and compliance.
*Serve as the technical escalation point for complex queries from Paraplanners and Advisers.
*Drive the adoption of technology and digital tools to optimise efficiency.
*Manage outsourced partner performance, monitoring SLAs, KPIs, and turnaround times to ensure consistent quality.
Technical & Strategic Support
*Support strategic initiatives aimed at improving the advice journey and operational excellence.
*Produce complex technical analysis and suitability reports when required.
*Maintain strong market, product, and regulatory knowledge to ensure standards remain current and client-focused.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
*Proven experience in a Paraplanning role, ideally with supervisory or leadership responsibilities within a financial advice business.
*Level 4 Diploma in Financial Advice (or equivalent) is essential; progression towards Chartered status is highly desirable.
*Strong technical expertise across Pensions, Investments, Protection, and Tax/Trust planning.
*Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills.
*Excellent written and verbal communication, with meticulous attention to detail.
*Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
*Advanced MS Excel skills.
