Job Description:
We are recruiting a temporary role for our client. They are looking for an Interim Financial Accountant, they will be responsble for safeguarding the organisation’s financial integrity by managing core control activities. This includes leading month-end and year-end close cycles, producing reliable financial reports, maintaining key account reconciliations, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards and internal policies. The role is central to delivering accurate financial insights, supporting informed decision-making, and continuously improving processes.
Key Duties:
* Lead the organisation’s monthly and annual close activities, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and within required timelines.
* Coordinate and review the preparation of journals, accruals, and other adjustments across multiple accounting areas, working closely with internal teams to support timely reporting.
* Reconcile major balance sheet accounts and maintain compliant, up-to-date financial ledgers.
* Take responsibility for end-to-end accounting processes, including reconciliations, adjustments, and month-end procedures, ensuring alignment with reporting standards and internal control frameworks.
* Review and approve journals and reconciliations, verifying accuracy, documentation quality, and compliance with both internal guidelines and external requirements.
* Identify weaknesses in existing processes and contribute to improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall financial control.
* Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal control standards. Provide support during internal and external audits through clear, accurate documentation and application of current accounting guidance.
* Assist in preparing management information, including variance analysis and commentary, offering meaningful insights to support strategic decisions.
* Build strong relationships across departments to maintain high-quality financial data and support collaboration with internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
* Provide occasional support to the Accounts Payable team when required.
Skills & Experience:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
* Solid understanding of financial accounting principles, particularly in areas such as gross margin, inventory, and revenue recognition
* High level of analytical ability, accuracy, and attention to detail
* Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting software
* Strong Excel proficiency
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and influence stakeholders
* Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement
