Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Newbury!
Newbury Hours 08:45 to 15:35
Contract: Permanent or long-term
This School is a vibrant and inclusive special school in Newbury, dedicated to supporting children and young people aged 3–19 with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
They are currently seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated team and help deliver high-quality, person-centred education in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils with a range of special educational needs in the classroom and during structured activities
* Assist with personal care, mobility, and medical needs where required
* Implement individual learning plans and behaviour strategies
* Use communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, and sensory tools
* Foster a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals

* Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based or personal experience welcomed)
* A caring, patient, and resilient approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Willingness to learn and take part in training
