Job Description:
About the RoleWe are seeking a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in a school setting.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide individualised support to pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
Key Responsibilities*Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions for pupils with SEN.
*Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
*Support pupils with communication and interaction needs, including non-verbal communication.
*Promote positive behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation.
*Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs and differentiate activities.
*Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure progress.
*Encourage independence and life skills development.
*Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews.
Essential Skills & Experience*Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
*Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, SLCN, and other SEND conditions.
*Ability to use Makaton, PECS, or other communication systems (desirable).
*Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
*Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations.
