Financial Accountant
Salary: HAY Q Band (£26,403 per annum / £13.69 per hour)
Location: Office-based, Monday to Friday
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Temporary (3–6 months, with potential extension until Easter)

They are seeking a Financial Accountant to play a pivotal role in ensuring financial accuracy and robust income control across multiple sites. Reporting directly to the Director – Head of Finance, this position is at the heart of their mission to deliver exceptional financial standards that support education and positive outcomes for young people.
What You’ll Do
This is more than just numbers—it’s about impact. You’ll:
*Lead income management across ESFA, local authorities, lettings providers, and third-party payment systems.
*Build strong control systems to identify issues and drive solutions with key stakeholders.
*Champion SEN funding accuracy, working closely with Principals, SENCOs, and external partners.
*Oversee payroll reconciliations, pension accounting, and ensure finance postings are spot-on.
*Manage account reconciliations, aged debtors, and accrued/deferred income.
*Support year-end audits, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
*Lead and inspire a small finance team, including apprentices and school-based finance officers.
*Tackle a backlog of invoices with precision and efficiency.

*Strong financial accounting experience—education or multi-site experience is a plus.
*Exceptional attention to detail and confidence in handling complex reconciliations.
*A natural communicator who thrives on collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
*Leadership skills to guide and support a small, dedicated team.
