Job Description:
MLC Partners are happy to be supporting the recruitment of a Senior Finance Business Partner for a high-performing public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive finance team in a senior leadership role that plays a key part in enabling strategic and operational decision-making.
The Role
The Senior Finance Business Partner will lead the Financial Management and Management Accounts function, supporting the delivery of high-quality, timely, and insightful financial information. Working closely with senior leaders, you will ensure the organisation maintains robust financial governance, delivers against its statutory duties, and meets key performance targets.
You will deputise for the Head of Finance, taking responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the financial management service, including financial planning, budget setting, forecasting, and performance reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing expert financial advice to senior managers and budget holders

* Leading the production of monthly financial performance reports and analysis

* Managing and developing a team of management accountants

* Supporting the development and delivery of cost improvement plans

* Ensuring all financial information is accurate, timely, and aligned to strategic priorities

* Supporting the annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycles

* Presenting highly complex financial data to both finance and non-finance stakeholders

* Leading improvements in systems, processes, and reporting

About You
We are seeking a proactive and engaging finance leader who can influence, challenge, and shape decision-making across a complex organisation. You will be confident in handling highly complex information, providing clarity, insight, and constructive challenge.
Essential experience and skills:
* CCAB-qualified accountant (or equivalent)

* Extensive experience in financial management and management accounts

* Strong staff leadership and team-management ability

* Experience supporting senior clinical or non-clinical leaders

* Excellent understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data

* Proficient in Excel and familiarity with ERP/ledger systems

* Ability to work autonomously, meet strict deadlines, and manage conflicting priorities

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including influencing and negotiation

Desirable:
* Experience contributing to cost improvement programmes

* Experience of large-scale public sector environments

* Understanding of relevant financial legislation, policy, and governance frameworks
