Business Support Officer

*Duration: Till 31/03/2026
*Working Hours: 9am till 5pm
Bury Council are looking for a dedicated Part-Time Business Support Officer to join our Family Safeguarding service. This role involves providing administrative support to front-line teams, ensuring efficient operation and support of family safeguarding processes. The position is based at 3 Knowsley Place, Bury, and is crucial for the smooth functioning of our services that adopt a strengths-based, whole-family approach to child protection.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Answering phone calls from colleagues, service users, or other professionals, providing direct assistance or directing calls as necessary.
*Managing shared team inboxes, ensuring they are monitored constantly and urgent tasks are addressed promptly.
*Supporting key meetings involving social care practitioners, family members, and legal representatives, ensuring accurate record-keeping as part of the legal process.
*Handling petty cash, supporting practitioners and families while ensuring compliance with financial procedures.
*Facilitating contact between families, such as booking accommodation or transport.
*Utilising Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) for various administrative tasks.
*Developing and introducing new office and information systems.
*Producing high-quality communication materials, including reports and briefing notes for various audiences.
*Coordinating business support for seminars and large events, including preparing papers and agendas.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
*Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively.
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working collaboratively in a busy team environment.
*Ability to work independently, remain calm under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
*Experience in handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
*Willingness to learn new systems and adapt to new processes.
*Experience in administrative roles, preferably within a similar setting.
