Accounts Assistant

We are working on behalf of our client to recruit a proactive and detail-driven Accounts Assistant to join their well-established Sales & Lettings Agency based in Durham. This is a fully office-based, full-time permanent role offering the opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of financial operations within a dynamic property-focused environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day finance tasks including data entry, reconciliations, VAT returns, and client account management, while supporting the wider team with accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
*Data entry into Sage Line 50
*Reconciling bank, cash & credit card accounts
*Maintaining debtor & creditor ledgers
*VAT returns – submitting and reconciling
*Posting journals including prepayments and accruals
*Full reconciliation of trial balance at year end
*Adhering to financial deadlines (Companies House, HMRC)
*Posting invoices raised & rents received
*Reconciling client deposits (received and repaid)
*Pursuing rental arrears
*General office duties – answering calls, liaising with clients, filing legal/financial documents
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Previous experience in a similar finance role
*Proficiency in Sage Line 50
*Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
*Excellent communication and time management
