This senior role sits within an established Model Risk function and is responsible for ensuring the robustness, regulatory compliance, and effective governance of the organisation’s risk models. You will lead independent reviews across the full model lifecycle and work closely with Risk, Finance, model developers, and senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities*Lead independent reviews covering model methodology, data quality, regulatory compliance, performance, monitoring, documentation, implementation, and model use.
*Develop and enhance the IMV framework, supporting model governance standards, policies, and oversight.
*Engage with model developers and owners on model development, changes, performance, and deployment.
*Perform statistical analysis using tools such as R, Python, SAS, or Excel, and build or review challenger models when required.
*Validate models across areas such as credit risk, IFRS 9, stress testing, and economic capital.
*Conduct back-testing, stress testing, sensitivity analysis, and recalibration assessments.
*Prepare clear validation reports and present findings to governance committees; support the Head of IMV as needed.
*Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members and contribute to best practice across the function.
Candidate Profile*Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
*Experience in model development or validation within a regulated environment.
*Knowledge of IRB, IFRS 9, Model Risk Management principles, and modern AI/ML techniques.
*Coding experience (e.g., R, Python, SAS, Excel/VBA).
*Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting or leading others.
*Degree in a numerate discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, etc.).


£65,000 - £80,000+benefits | Hybrid: 2 onsite days (Birmingham) per week
