Job Description:
Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Years 8/9 – Primary Level Learners)
Location: Near Leatherhead, Surrey
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support students in Years 8–9 who are currently working at a primary school level. This role involves leading small group sessions, supporting classroom learning, and contributing to the planning and delivery of tailored interventions. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students stay engaged, motivated, and make meaningful progress in their learning.
Key Responsibilities:
*Deliver structured learning activities to small groups or individual students, in line with teacher planning and student needs.
*Support students with a range of special educational needs, including cognitive and communication difficulties.
*Foster positive relationships with students to build trust and encourage participation.
*Use creative and adaptive strategies to maintain engagement and promote progress.
*Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans.
*Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SENCO.
*Contribute to classroom management and behaviour support strategies.
*Support the wider teaching team with planning, preparation, and assessment where appropriate.
Person Specification:
*HLTA status or equivalent qualification is essential.
*Proven experience working with SEN students, particularly those working below age-related expectations.
*Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with young people.
*Confident in leading learning activities and managing small groups.
*Patient, empathetic, and resilient in a dynamic school environment.
*Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
