Finance Accounts Assistant - 12-Month FTC
Saffron Walden (2 days per week in the office)

Robert Half are delighted to be partnering with a respected organisation in Saffron Walden to recruit an Accounts Assistant on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid Excel skills (pivot tables & VLOOKUPs essential) who enjoys a varied role across treasury, purchase ledger and financial reporting.
The Role As Accounts Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting the Assistant Financial Controller and wider Finance Team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and smooth day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include:
* Managing daily treasury operations, including updating banking systems and ensuring authorised payments and inter-account transfers are completed

* Performing daily bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash book records (including Imagepay)

* Providing back-office treasury support: confirming transactions, maintaining Whistlebrook records, preparing daily swap checkers and monitoring templates

* Producing the monthly Back Office Treasury Compliance Report for ALCO

* Supporting branch administration, including cheque management and banking stationery orders

* Administering the Purchase Ledger, resolving queries, and completing payment runs

* Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and appropriate documentation

* Contributing to audit readiness and maintaining strong financial controls

About You We’re looking for someone who is:
* Confident using Excel, especially pivot tables and VLOOKUPs

* Detail-oriented, organised and able to work to deadlines

* Experienced within finance operations, treasury, bank reconciliation or purchase ledger (desirable)

* A strong communicator who enjoys supporting multiple stakeholders

* Able to attend the Saffron Walden office twice a week
