Pastoral Officer
Location: Newmarket
Salary: £25,104 - £28,177 per annum
Contract: Full Time, Permanent (37 hours per week, 38 weeks per year)

We are looking for a committed and compassionate Pastoral Officer to support students in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their full potential. This is a rewarding role where you’ll work closely with students, families, and staff to provide targeted mentoring and wellbeing interventions.
About the Role
*Provide tailored mentoring and wellbeing support for students at risk of underachievement.
*Work across home and school environments to address barriers to learning.
*Focus on improving attendance, punctuality, and engagement for targeted students.
*Deliver short and medium-term interventions to meet individual needs.
*Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
Key Responsibilities
*Assist in the educational and social development of students under senior staff guidance.
*Implement wellbeing interventions such as ELSA, MHFA, My Big Life, and Anger Management.
*Monitor attendance and punctuality, introducing strategies to improve outcomes.
*Facilitate group activities and coaching sessions for students and parents/carers.
*Evaluate the impact of interventions and contribute to future planning for at-risk students.
What We’re Looking For
*Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting.
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening.
*Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and professionals.
*Knowledge of safeguarding and commitment to promoting student welfare.
*ELSA training is preferred but not essential – we will support your development.
