Job Title: Financial Controls Specialist
Location: Oxfordshire or London (Hybrid)
Salary: £70,000 – £90,000 (pro rata) + benefits
Contract: Initial 6-month FTC

About the Job
This role plays a pivotal part in enhancing the internal control environment to align with SOx standards. Acting as a key figure within the finance team, the Financial Controls Specialist will focus on addressing control deficiencies, improving financial reporting processes, and supporting audit readiness across the UK&I business.
Duties will include:
*Executing remediation plans for SOx control weaknesses across financial operations
*Redesigning and implementing robust financial controls in partnership with process owners
*Reviewing and updating process documentation (e.g. flowcharts, narratives, RCMs)
*Conducting control design and operating effectiveness testing
*Liaising with internal and external auditors and ensuring audit readiness
*Supporting compliance efforts with COSO and US GAAP frameworks
*Promoting awareness of financial control standards through training initiatives
*Driving continuous improvements and enhancing efficiency across finance processes
*Assisting in the rollout of digital tools to improve visibility and reporting
About the Successful Applicant
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with proven experience in SOx compliance or working within a strong internal control environment. You’ll possess strong technical knowledge of SOX 404, COSO, and ICFR principles, along with excellent documentation and testing skills. A background in financial services is desirable, and you will demonstrate strong communication, stakeholder management, and project delivery capabilities.
