Job Description:
Job Title: Private Client Partner or Senior Associate
Location: Bristol (with option to service London market)
Salary: Competitive — led by candidate expectations and experience
Benefits: Flexible working (4-day week considered), hybrid model (3 days office / 2 remote), CPD support, opportunity to lead and grow in a high-performing HNW/UHNW private client practice
About the Company:
This full-service national law firm has grown significantly since its high street origins and now boasts a turnover of £18 million and 225+ staff across six offices. While offering services across most legal areas, private client work is a cornerstone of the business — generating over £7.5 million annually. The 45-strong private client team works exclusively with HNW and UHNW individuals, supported by long-term institutional relationships with leading financial services providers. The leadership team, including the CEO, remain deeply involved in private client matters, ensuring strong direction and commitment to continued growth.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a senior private client lawyer — either an experienced Senior Associate (10+ PQE) or a Partner (12–15+ PQE) — to join and help drive forward the firm’s growing Bristol-based team. You’ll work with high-calibre colleagues, handle complex matters for affluent clients, and contribute to the team’s leadership, development and business growth. A clear path to partnership is available for strong Senior Associates. The environment is supportive, flexible, and suited to lawyers looking for long-term impact and career stability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Handle a caseload of complex HNW and UHNW private client matters — including estate planning, probate, wills, trusts, and cross-border work
• Build and manage relationships with introducers, clients, and financial institutions — develop your own client base and support firm growth
• Provide guidance and oversight to more junior team members, including legal executives, paralegals, and support staff
• Contribute to departmental targets and KPIs, including billing, recovery, WIP and utilisation
• Collaborate with colleagues in other offices (especially London and international teams) to deliver cross-jurisdictional solutions
• Attend internal partner/SAL-level meetings and contribute to wider strategic discussions where applicable
Requirements:
• Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years PQE in private client law
• Strong technical grounding in estate planning, trusts, wills, probate, and tax matters for HNW and UHNW clients
• Demonstrated ability to generate or develop private client work through networking, referrals, or institutional partnerships
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers or legal staff
• Commercial awareness and confidence in managing key performance metrics (chargeable hours, recovery, targets, etc.)
• Bristol or London-based — must have an active network and be embedded in the local private client market
• Long-term career mindset — this is a strategic hire for someone seeking stability and future progression
If this role isn’t quite right, it’s still worth speaking to one of our specialist team — we may be working on something similar that hasn’t hit the market yet.
