SEMH Teaching Assistant

Hours: 8:30am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
A supportive and forward-thinking SEMH primary school located near Putney Bridge is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This rewarding role involves supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs to access the mainstream curriculum at a differentiated level, enabling them to make strong academic and personal progress.
The school is easily accessible by both local bus routes and the District Line, offering a welcoming environment and a collaborative staff team committed to transforming outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

* Confident supporting children with complex behaviour needs

Ideal SEMH TA Requirements * Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs

* Understanding of trauma-informed approaches

* Ability to deliver differentiated learning

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

* Patience, empathy, and resilience

* Ability to follow behaviour plans and contribute to de-escalation strategies

* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

* Ability to work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff

* Proactive attitude and willingness to learn

TA Compliance Requirements * Right to work in the UK

* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

* Valid references covering the last two years

* Proof of address and relevant ID

* Up-to-date CV detailing full education and employment history

* Overseas police check (if applicable)
