Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Visa Compliance Officer to join our team. This role is crucial for assessing international applicant suitability and assisting with the maintenance of the University Student Sponsor Licence. The successful candidate will be instrumental during the transition period, acting as a facilitator of change, understanding the purpose for the change, promoting its goals, and supporting teammates through the change process.
Day-to-day of the role:*Monitor international students prior to their arrival in the UK, highlighting levels of concern and liaising with relevant departments.
*Analyse data related to student pre-entry engagement and other Student Sponsor duties, including extracting data, data analysis, interpreting trends, identifying risks, and providing data reports.
*Ensure students starting at non-standard times receive appropriate pre-entry information.
*Work closely with the International Student Advice Team on visa advice and with staff regarding pre-entry information.
*Assess pre-CAS questionnaires, check financial documentation, and make decisions on the eligibility for a Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS).
*Provide support and advice to International Recruitment and Admissions staff about CAS generation.
*Assist with visa and passport scanning as students arrive at the University.
*Be responsible for Home Office reporting requirements.
*Maintain an Audit Action Plan with the Visa Compliance Team and prepare for UKVI inspections.
*Act as an Authorised Biometrics Residence Card (BRP) handler for the University.
Required Skills & Qualifications:*Qualified to a minimum of undergraduate degree level or to A-level standard with relevant experience.
*Current or very recent experience in the higher education sector or in the immigration sector.
*Experience dealing with large volumes of data and working with Excel spreadsheets.
*Understanding and interpreting basic policy, regulations, and guidance.
*Ability to perform effectively in a busy work environment, manage a high workload, and respond to frequently changing priorities.
*A sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the ability to use an electronic case recording system.
*A high standard of written and spoken English, with the ability to produce clear and concise written material.
*A confident communicator, with an enthusiastic and dependable approach and the ability to work under pressure as a member of a team.
