Our client is seeking an experienced Private Family Lawyer to manage a varied caseload of privately funded family matters within its respected Family Department.
Job Purpose
*Manage and progress a caseload of privately funded family matters under the supervision of the Head of Department
*Work in accordance with the Firm’s Office Manual and professional practice standards
*Support business development and networking activities
Key Responsibilities
*Meet clients, take initial instructions and progress matters through to completion
*Manage own caseload, including complex family matters
*Maintain files with full compliance and detailed attendance notes
*Conduct advocacy and attend Court when required
*Time recording and preparation of bills
*Build, maintain and manage a sustainable caseload
*Achieve WIP, billing and cash targets
*Assist Directors, Heads of Department and colleagues where required
*Attend departmental and fee earner meetings
*Undertake file reviews for other fee earners as necessary
*Travel between offices as required; demonstrate flexibility for client/business needs
Knowledge & Experience
*Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (litigation and advocacy rights essential)
*Minimum 4 years’ fee-earning experience in a Private Family Law department
*Strong experience running private caseloads (divorce, finances, private children matters)
*Knowledge of legal aid work beneficial
*Experience with Lexcel requirements
*Proven business development and networking skills
*Friendly, personable and able to work independently
*Full driving licence and own vehicle essential
*Confident using Microsoft Office and case management systems
