SEMH Teaching Assistant

Do you have experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a school in Barnsley that is part of a large academy trust specialising in SEND and SEMH provision.
About the Role
You will work with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, have experienced trauma, or require additional emotional support. Your role will be to help them regulate emotions, build resilience, and engage positively in learning.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
*Implement behaviour support plans and de-escalation strategies.
*Promote emotional well-being through restorative approaches and trauma-informed practice.
*Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external agencies.
*Encourage positive relationships and social skills development.
What We’re Looking For
*Experience working with SEMH pupils in education or care settings (essential).
*Knowledge of behaviour management, trauma-informed approaches, and positive reinforcement techniques.
*Calm, resilient, and empathetic personality.
*Relevant qualifications desirable but not essential.
