Job Description:
Are you ready to play a vital role in protecting the public from terrorism and extremism?
We’re looking for a dedicated and skilled Investigation Officer to join our Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to national security by investigating serious crimes and supporting intelligence-led operations in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
This is an initial 3-month contract position based in Manchester with an hourly rate of £20.86 per hour plus holiday pay and benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Investigation Officer, you will:
*Conduct reactive and proactive investigations under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) or CTPNW command.
*Attend crime scenes, carry out fast-track actions, and preserve evidence.
*Interview witnesses and suspects, take statements, and gather intelligence.
*Lead outside enquiry teams during major incident investigations.
*Search premises and retrieve data from intelligence systems including HOLMES 2.
*Ensure compliance with legislation such as CPIA, RIPA, DPA, and HRA.
*Record and evaluate intelligence in line with national standards and the Management of Police Information (MOPI) guidance.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
*Strong understanding of crime investigation procedures and best practices.
*Awareness of current affairs at local, national, and international levels.
*Willingness to work independently, including out-of-force or overseas deployments.
Desirable Experience:
*Knowledge of major incident room procedures and HOLMES office management.
*Familiarity with terrorism legislation and covert intelligence processes.
*Experience investigating major incidents or serious crime.
*Understanding of forensic techniques and evidence preservation.
*Knowledge of the National Intelligence Model and intelligence legislation.
