Job Description:
Payroll Officer
*Contract Type: Fixed-Term (6 months)
*Location: OL1, Oldham
*Pay Rate: £14.96 – £16.23 per hour
We are seeking a Payroll Officer to provide accurate and timely payroll processing and support, ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures. This role is crucial in delivering a high-quality payroll service that meets customer expectations and service standards.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Process HR and payroll queries and transactional requests accurately within agreed timescales.
*Ensure compliance with audit requirements, policies, and procedures.
*Maintain high standards of accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing and record-keeping.
*Meet and exceed customer service standards and KPIs.
*Identify and contribute to service improvements.
*Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
*Perform administrative tasks to support payroll operations.
*Communicate professionally with colleagues and customers.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, tax, NI, pensions).
*Highly numerate and literate with excellent attention to detail.
*Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
*Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
*Ability to manage time and prioritise workloads under tight deadlines.
*Positive, proactive, and adaptable approach.
Desirable:
*Experience with MHR iTrent payroll system.
*Knowledge of Local Government terms and conditions.
*CIPP or equivalent payroll qualification.
*Advanced Excel skills.
