Teaching Assistant
*Location: Horsham, West Sussex
*Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
*Hours: 40 hours per week
*Salary: £22,906 - £23,621 (dependent on experience)
*Hourly Rate: £12.82 - £13.22 per hour
*Start Date: January 2026
Join a newly established SEND Secondary School in Horsham, West Sussex, catering to autistic young people aged 11-16. We are dedicated to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where every student feels safe and valued. This is an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a significant impact in the lives of students with special educational needs.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
*Support the delivery of an adapted National Curriculum in small class settings, focusing on sensory needs and emotional wellbeing.
*Work closely with in-house therapists and clinicians to implement strategies and interventions, supporting the integrated therapy model of the school.
*Proactively support learning in the classroom, personalising education to meet the individual needs of each student.
*Engage in regular communication with parents and other professionals, providing updates and feedback on student progress.
*Participate in a variety of enrichment activities, including outdoor activities, sports, and community projects, enhancing the holistic development of students.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*A strong interest in therapy and psychology, with a qualification or genuine interest in these fields.
*Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEND, or a clear potential to quickly acquire necessary skills.
*Demonstrated ability to support neurodivergent individuals effectively.
*Resourcefulness, resilience, and a growth mindset.
*Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and proficiency in IT.
*Commitment to continuous learning and development in neuro-affirmative practices.
*Outstanding pastoral and safeguarding skills.
