Job Description:
Senior Commodity Analyst - 18M FTC
A leading global commodities organisation is seeking a Senior Commodity Analyst to join their London-based Back Office Settlement Team. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to bring your expertise in commodity operations, quantitative analysis, and market risk to a highly respected international business with a strong reputation for excellence and integrity.
You will play a pivotal role in supporting trading desks across London, Singapore, and New York, ensuring the seamless settlement and reporting of energy, base, and precious metals derivative products. The organisation values flexibility, offering a hybrid working model with three days in the office each week, and encourages you to contribute new ideas that enhance operational efficiency. If you are looking for a collaborative environment where your analytical skills and commitment to continuous improvement will be recognised and rewarded, this is the perfect next step in your career.
What you’ll do:

*Manage daily and monthly cash settlements as well as reconciliation processes for various commodity transactions across multiple currencies.
*Match confirmations efficiently while maintaining up-to-date records for all relevant derivative products.
*Update and review daily margin reports to monitor exposures and support risk management activities within the team.
*Act as a main point of contact for precious, energy, and base metals queries from front office teams, accounting departments, and both internal and external stakeholders.
*Liaise effectively with colleagues at all organisational levels to resolve issues promptly and maintain high standards of service delivery.
*Review existing procedures regularly with the aim of identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and implementing improved working practices.
*Assess operational challenges as they arise, suggesting practical solutions to management that enhance overall performance.
*Collaborate with internal trading desks and external clients to ensure timely resolution of queries and efficient service provision.
*Participate actively in project work by managing assigned projects, communicating progress clearly to management, and providing backup support for other team members during absences.
What you bring:
*Demonstrated experience in back office or operational roles within precious, base and energy.
*Proven expertise in quantitative analysis related to market risk as well as other risks associated with commodity transactions is highly valued.
*In-depth knowledge of international settlements involving various currencies and products is necessary for effective performance.
*Advanced data analysis skills enabling you to interpret complex information accurately are expected.
*Excellent communication abilities are vital for building positive relationships with colleagues at all levels internally as well as external clients.
*A track record of working independently while also thriving as part of a supportive team environment is important.
*Strong organisational skills allowing you to prioritise tasks effectively under pressure while meeting daily deadlines are required.
*Flexibility in adapting to changing priorities along with openness to sharing new ideas that improve ways of working is encouraged.
