Private Client Tax Senior
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Private Client Tax Senior to join our client’s expanding US and UK tax practice. This role is pivotal in delivering expert tax advice to US Expatriate high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) across the UK and international jurisdictions.
As a key member of our technical team, you will provide strategic guidance on complex personal tax matters, including Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Inheritance Tax (IHT), and cross-border tax planning. You will prepare and review tax computations, manage client relationships and contribute to innovative tax solutions that align with evolving regulatory landscapes.
With a focus on compliance, accuracy and client service excellence, this position offers substantial professional growth, exposure to high-value clients and the opportunity to work within a technically rigorous, supportive environment. Your expertise in both UK and US tax regimes will be critical in addressing the increasingly complex needs of international private clients.
Responsibilities:
*Prepare and review accurate, timely personal tax returns, including self-assessment, CGT and IHT calculations.
*Advise HNWI and UHNWI clients on tax-efficient structures, estate planning and succession strategies.
*Analyse complex tax scenarios involving trusts, residential and non-residential property disposals and investment portfolios.
*Collaborate with clients, solicitors, financial advisers, and other professionals to gather information and implement tax solutions.
*Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and evolving tax legislation, including updates to CGT, IHT and anti-avoidance rules.
*Support the design of bespoke tax planning strategies using trusts, gifts and lifetime allowances.
*Prepare technical documentation, client briefing notes and advisory reports.
*Mentor and supervise junior team members, fostering technical excellence and client service standards.
*Stay up to date with developments in UK and US tax law, particularly as they impact international private clients.
*Act as a trusted advisor by proactively identifying tax-saving opportunities and mitigating risks.
Requirements
*Minimum of 3 years of experience in personal tax, preferably within a professional services firm or private client practice.
*In-depth knowledge of US and UK tax legislation, including CGT, IHT, Income Tax and National Insurance.
*Familiarity with US tax implications for UK-based HNWIs, including FBAR, FATCA and cross-border reporting obligations.
*Proven experience advising on complex personal tax issues involving trusts, property disposals and estate planning.
*Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly.
*Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CaseWare, TaxCalc) and advanced Excel skills.
*Exceptional attention to detail, organisational ability and the capacity to manage multiple deadlines.
*Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
*Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
