Science Technician
Location: Buckinghamshire Salary: Competitive hourly rate
Hours: Full-time Contract: Temporary to permanent role Agency: Newstaff Employment Services
Newstaff Employment Services is recruiting a Science Technician to support a busy secondary school science department. This role is ideal for someone organised, practical, and confident working in a lab environment.
Key Responsibilities * Prepare and set up equipment, materials, and solutions for science lessons and exams
* Support teachers and students during practicals, following CLEAPSS and school H&S procedures
* Maintain, repair, and organise apparatus, chemicals, and storage areas
* Carry out risk assessments, safety checks, and PAT testing
* Manage stock levels, place orders, check deliveries, and maintain accurate records
* Assist with general departmental admin and support (e.g., displays, cleaning equipment, scribing for SEND, accompanying trips)
* Liaise with supply teachers, local schools, and external organisations as needed
Requirements * Lab or school science experience preferred
* Strong awareness of health & safety
* Good organisation and communication skills
* Flexible, reliable, and able to work in a busy school environment
Safeguarding Enhanced DBS required and other safe guarding requirements will be needed.
